The battlefield in Blockader never gets quieter. One wave ends, a new group of enemies appears, and the space around your character quickly fills again. There is barely enough time to look at an upgrade card before the next fight begins.
Blockader is a roguelite arena shooter set on a circular lunar battlefield where enemy hordes arrive from every direction. Weapons attack automatically, leaving players free to focus on movement, positioning, and deciding which upgrades will be most useful in the next wave.
Every defeated enemy helps fill the wave meter. Once it is complete, the action pauses briefly and a selection of upgrade cards appears. Some upgrades add extra projectiles. Others introduce effects such as poison, chain lightning, arrows, or even dragon companions that attack alongside the player. A build that starts with a basic weapon can look completely different after a few upgrade choices. Because the card selection changes from run to run, the same strategy is not always available twice.
Early waves leave enough room to move comfortably around the ring-shaped map. Later encounters become much harder to navigate as larger groups of enemies arrive together. Finding safe paths through the crowd becomes just as important as dealing damage. A powerful build helps, but staying trapped between enemy groups can end a promising run very quickly.
Stars collected during gameplay are used for permanent upgrades. Offense, Defense, and Utility improvements remain available between attempts, giving future characters a stronger starting point.
Each playable character also has a separate skill tree, creating another way to develop different playstyles over time. Unlocking upgrades gradually opens more possibilities for future runs and encourages experimentation with new builds.
